Happy September!

Doesn’t the beginning of September feel great? We were all students at some point in our lives and I think September will always bring an idea of a fresh new start in my mind! I am so excited to be back at work again. I took quite a few weeks off this summer to celebrate weddings in foreign countries and different provinces in Canada, to graduate, cheer my husband on while he officially became an Ironman and to sneak in some last summer days out at the cabin. Lots of new and exciting things are happening at CLEAR Music Therapy that I can’t wait to share them with you!

Alberta is still nice and warm but I can see the leaves changing in the park and soon it will officially be fall. I leave you with a great song that my supervisor shared with me last year when I started my internship. I can’t believe a year ago this week I started my internship and now I am running my own company! Time keeps passing whether we like it or not!

This is a great music and movement song to get children to participate, move around, identify with different characteristics of the season, and is easily adapted to new seasons!

Materials: You will need a scarf for each child – the scarves will be the leaves, the more colourful the better!

The Leaves on the Trees [to the tune of The Wheels on the Bus]

The leaves on the trees sway side to side, side to side, side to side

The leaves on the trees sway side to side, all through fall.

The leaves on the  trees fall down, fall down, fall down

The leaves on the trees fall down, all through fall.

Pick up the leaves and throw them in the air, throw them in the air, throw them in the air.

Pick up the leaves and throw them in the air, all through fall.

Rake up the leaves and put them in a pile, put them in a pile, put them in a pile

Rake up the leaves and put them in a pile, all through fall.

[clean up time] Pick up the leaves and put them in a bag, put them in a bag, put them in a bag

Pick up the leaves and put them in a bag, all through fall!
